Sharing little more with Chess than 64 squares of alternating colors arranged in a square, Live Role-Playing Chess is possibly the most fun you and 15 of your friends can have. In LRPC, each player takes the role of a Mighty Warrior, Cunning Thief, Pious Priest, Mysterious Mage, or Commanding Monarch. (Roughly corresponding to Rooks, Knights, Bishops, Queens, and Kings in Chess, respectively.) Throwing all semblance of strategy out the window, the Light and Dark sides proceed to use their abilities to destroy the opposing side. LRPC can be taught in less than a half-hour, and takes approximately an hour to play. In an average convention 3 hour, 45 minute slot, three games can be comfortably played. Optional rules allow for fantasy races and occupations to complicate the battle even more. You can also play with mercenaries and pawns to allow more than 16 people to join in the fun. We've been running LRPC at the Gen Con Game Fair and other conventions for years, and we never fail to fill the game. ![]()
